The Big Shoulders Fund is a non-profit that channels money and support from business leaders to Catholic schools in Chicago’s low-income communities.

Since 2013 I’ve worked with the Big Shoulders Fund on a journalism and news literacy initiative for their schools. Through the initiative we created News Literacy classes at four high schools – Josephinum Academy, Our Lady of Tepeyac, Leo High School, and DePaul College Prep. We also held trainings and professional developments on journalism-related topics.

I’ve also photographed at a number of Big Shoulders Schools for promotional materials: St. Ailbe, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Patricia, Academy of St. Benedict the African, Our Lady of Victory School, Maternity BVM, Our Lady of the Gardens, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, and Christ the King College Prep, among others.
